Tommy Pike Customs knows how to customize modern muscle and blow the dust off nostalgic throwbacks while ensuring durability for the long haul
Passion and pride for their work are what fuel Tommy Pike and his crew at Tommy Pike Customs as they work for their customers to increase performance, full customize or completely restore classic cars in their Greenville, South Carolina shop. The team specializes in superchargers, full engine builds, transmission upgrades, rear end differentials, suspension upgrades, custom interiors and restorations.
The team kicked of 2016 with a customized Ram 1500 to celebrate FLW Angler Jimmy Houston and his 50 years of professional fishing. Custom modifications included a suspension upgrade, rod tubes, light bars, brush guard, custom wheels and a full vinyl wrap designed by Tommy to resemble a Largemouth bass.
One of the team's favorite projects was the restoration of a 1969 Ford F-100, called the Quaker State truck. After decades, the truck was given the chance to start a new chapter with unbelievable and unexpected custom features including a Cadillac CTS-V LSA engine. The 1969 F-100 boasts a modern fuel injection system, 800 horsepower, custom interior, full modern audio system, four-wheel disc brakes, all-new suspension and a Quaker State-themed matte green and gold paint accents.
The color scheme and logos aren't the only place you'll find Quaker State. Tommy Pike and his crew pour Quaker State Full Synthetic motor oil to maintain the engine's performance so the F-100 can stay on the road for another 40 years.

An antique “Ford” truck sits parked on a wooded road. Sunlight glints off the customized pickup’s glossy paint and “Supercharged” engine. Later, bearing a “Quaker State” logo on each door, the pickup truck cruises down a rural highway. Later, standing beside the truck, a bald, goateed man wears sunglasses.

We do everything from full restorations to pretty much anything that our customers need or desire. But we were looking for something that would be different, old school. It would be a show piece, but almost an interactive showpiece. The wheels started turning, and six months later, here we are with this incredible, awesome ’69 F100.

Yeah, well, so what we’ve done is we’ve gotten rid of the twin I-beam suspension, and we’ve gone now four-wheel independent suspension, four-wheel disc brakes, small 800 horsepower modern GM drivetrain. It would equate to being the CTSV Supercharged power plant. It’s got the Eaton 1.9 liter blower on it with all forced internals. CNC ported heads. Huge pulleys. I mean, huge boost pulleys so that we’re making upwards of 20 pounds plus of boost on this thing. It’s just all the way there. I mean, anything that we could throw at it, we threw at it.

It’s just a really nice compact, high horsepower motor. And pretty much just the best of the best as far as modern components, so this thing runs and drives and rides like a modern car.

My father used Quaker State. I mean, Quaker State is old school. My father was old school. I like to think of myself as being old school. So, that being said, we do a lot of old school builds, but yet we make them very relevant.

And with the Quaker State brand now, their whole product lineup has been changed and revamped and modernized. Their technology is just incredible. So it does give us added horsepower. It does give us added fuel economy. And it’s kind of just like us. It’s old school, but with a modern twist. And that’s the thing I like most about it, and why it’s a perfect relationship.
